Small Shed Designs Does Anyone Know Why A Garage May Have Been Built With A Room Beneath It?

Does anyone know why a garage may have been built with a room beneath it? - small shed designs

We want a house that was built in 1929 and recently discovered a place to buy in the garage. The argument appears along with the original foundation of the house. This is 20'x20'x5 5 '. The garage floor is made of wood and, according to a small fraction of the soil can so that we can use a ladder to descend to. It has a dirt floor, and is empty. Can speak with the seller, and told the inspector that he had never seen anything like it before. We do not lead to believe that it can, more recently, someone gone there to work in a car below, but where the ground is open to believe us, so it is designed. We have tried to find some information online, without success. Has anyone seen such a thing, or that could shed some light on the original purpose of the room or space to throw to hear?

Depending on how deep it is, maybe he has used as a warehouse. You mentioned he had a dirt floor. If deep enough, could be retained and vegetables in the winter months!

I know that all houses were built in England during the Second World War, but before 1929 the year --- the stock market crash and the Great Depression had begun. It sounds very clean. Good luck.

This is only conjecture, but based on years of construction, which could be used to store smuggled whiskey during prohibition. This gives them the ability to load and unload supplies from Johnny would be invisible to the law.

I have not seen or heard for many years, but I remember as a child garages. A space will be remembered as underground wine cellar of the "root" is used in other words, in a house that preserves Store Home Grown and root vegetables like potatoes and pumpkin. Today, some friends built a room in your garage concrete floor instead of filling a lot to take from one dirt hill. The room has a double door set on the lower level and for lawn mowers and milling.

could be an ancient mechanical pit. Elevators are not back in the day, so that when construction of the house, you had to be in.and because the property could be extended in some memory.
or it could be a portal to another dimension ...

As you said, that the floor is dirt, as I think it could be used as a warehouse, getting people to cultivated vegetables, where it lasts long, because the freshness of the underground environment. Even the manufacture of bottles stored cans, etc.

Sounds like a root cellar. We have one of these in our garage. The ground floor is an important indicator because a manufacturer only one floor, but not yet finished.

Our root cellar had wooden shelves on the walls, and a plate of potatoes. You can view them in your room or the rest of the shelves. This is another indication that there is a winery.

Even if the root cellar can be used as such. Fresh fruits and vegetables preserved in Ball jars will keep for years in a cellar, and vegetables such as potatoes lasts all winter. The atmosphere in the cellar is well ventilated can cause mildew, but cold enough to keep these foods in decomposition. Keller are cheap and simple and functional.

could be used as a store or warehouse. For more information, contact local companies or children of the historic old house. I am sure that I give a clearer picture. Good luck in your new home. older ones have this ability.

Taking into account the age, I think it would be an underground cellar.
